Ultimately, [Cornyn] did not lose the Republican nomination because of the Trump endorsement…he lost it because he spent the better part of the last two decades with his nose so far up Mitch McConnell’s ass that he was more of a walking shit stain (by mass) than a man…let alone a Texas Republican. Texas Republicans were over him.
Well, the walking shit stain (and his DC machine) are determined to drive that point home all the way up to election day:
[Via News of the United States]: “Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico’s campaign hired a staffer from Republican Sen. John Cornyn, NOTUS has learned. … Jacob Smith, who worked for Cornyn for five years as a deputy legislative director and policy adviser, is taking on the role of deputy policy director for Talarico’s campaign.”
It appears that the duties of advising/directing on policy transfer somewhat seamlessly. Who would have guessed?
Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico poached a staffer from Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). … That’s obviously unusual. It raises a lot of questions about why any Republican would ever want to work for a leftist like Talarico, if they cared about Texas and the country. This was one of the people influencing Cornyn’s policies, so perhaps this explains a lot.
It made a lot of people think they’d voted correctly when they voted for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton instead of Cornyn in the primary. …
Now Cornyn himself has weighed in and made things worse. This is a guy who claims he’s going to support the Republican ticket. But this is what he’s putting out.
“…only in authoritarian countries does someone else get to decide where you work. Not in Texas. Those concerned might want to channel their energy into broadening R outreach to a coalition of voters rather than just those already converted.”
John, only in authoritarian countries does someone else get to decide where you work. Not in Texas. Those concerned might want to channel their energy into broadening R outreach to a coalition of voters rather than just those already converted. https://t.co/5T2qEPfqdz
None of this is surprising. Texan Republicans are (obviously) very clear on just who John Cornyn is…and who he is not. A few more of these viral headlines between now and November will supply the fitting exit for this political hemorrhoid stubbornly inflicting the Texas Republican party…and the end of McConnellism from the DC stage. Good riddance to both.
