Instapundit informs us this morning (yet again) that A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS SEE THE FBI AS BIDEN’S PERSONAL GESTAPO, AND NOT WITHOUT REASON with a topic not unfamiliar to this blogger. In fact, it was referenced just eight days ago in a post here titled Skimming the Totalitarian Playbook…and Connecting a Few Dots. But is has been the subject of earlier posting at my legacy on-line home too:

Today’s reemergence of the story into consciousness seems to warrant rehashing some of the details:

Spying on a CBS reporter? Where is the outrage? But wait, as I asked before:

What if they did more than just spying? One of the great stories of the last decade left largely untouched by our reliably incurious press is the “tampering” done to Sharyl Attkissons computers:

“When Attkisson had her computer examined by an independent computer forensics expert, evidence was found showing that it had been “accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions” and that “this party performed all access remotely using Attkisson’s accounts,” according to a report from CBS in 2013. Furthermore, “forensic analysis revealed an intruder had executed commands that appeared to involve search and exfiltration of data.” The traces of software left behind after the attack were shown by the expert who examined the computer to be “proprietary to a federal intel agency,” according to Attkisson.

“Not only that, but buried in the system files of her operating system (where she would be almost certain never to look) were three classified government documents. Attkisson could have been charged under the Espionage Act for possessing those documents. …”

Just to amplify that for clarity: Someone under Executive Branch authority (in this case, a certain Mr. Obama) planted evidence in a reporter’s computer for potential later use in charges (OR THREAT OF charges) under the Espionage Act. (Following the near universal convention used across media these days, I feel no need to caveat that statement with an “allegedly” anymore. Circumstances around this government no longer require one “to look for proof. either. Following the [rules of the game that they themselves have now established], I would propose that they prove to us that this was impossible.” ^[1] But I digress.) I repeat, where is the outrage from CBS? …the broader media complex? …We the People?

Then, just to add the cherry on the cake, the only one with any credibility in this affair has asserted that she has been told by FBI sources that the FBI attempted to plant child porn in her husband’s computer.

The great silence on this since 2013 has only served to embolden the behavior. Is there any wonder that these unlawful, un-American extensions of the Executive branch authority seem to feel ultra-secure in flexing their muscle up to even a former (and future) president? In case you missed the subtlety above, the three words to key on here in our quickly maturing fear-based society are “OR THREAT OF.” You need to start thinking through the implications of all of this within the context of the daily news cycle:

• What have they found and or planted within the devices of various members of the Legislative Branch? Who is under their thumb and/or on-call as required? Mitch McConnell? Joe Manchin? (Make your own list…and remember, even the openly Progressive friendly types may need some encouragement for a timely response.)

• What have they found and or planted within the devices of various members of the Judicial Branch? Who is under their thumb and/or on-call as required? John Roberts? (Name a judge? Even the openly Progressive friendly types may need some encouragement for a timely response.)

• What have they found and or planted within the devices of various members of the narrative media? Who is under their thumb and/or on-call as required? Talking heads? Editors? Executives? (Even the openly Progressive friendly types may need some encouragement for a timely response.)

The game is no longer being hidden from us…these forces now not only openly cultivate the favored narrative by “piously assert[ing] that they can’t comment on much of anything publicly, and then leak falsehoods and half-truths to friendly and gullible media outlets” ^[2] but also operate freely to preemptively plant evidence to use on those they may need to encourage into action or remove from the game altogether. Are you scared yet?

It is also worth acknowledging that this is the American system now. These aspects of the Executive Branch of our government are now systemically corrupted and the resulting institutional sclerosis that has set in makes recovery from within the system “beyond the reach of the electoral process and legislative process. The citizenry must create new counterweights.” ^[3] Unfortunately, “counterweights” will only soften the landing…the rot is irreversible.

Into the abyss…
