‘The Lost Generation’ – Testimony on the Pollution of Broader Talent and Technical Competence Pipelines …or… More than a Decade of Unnatural Selection is going to Impact American Society for Many Decades to Come.

I have written on this topic on many occasions. A few examples:

Conspicuous Diversity – The Pathway Toward Corporate Fragility, Eventual Collapse, and a Broader Societal Dark Age (November 24, 2022)

The Natural Progression of Potemkin Diversity (October 4, 2024)

The Natural Progression of Potemkin Diversity – The ‘Unnatural Selection Toward Shallowness, Mediocrity, and Societal Collapse’ Edition (January 10, 2025)

I will let you digest the finer details of those at your own convenience but before diving into the main topic of today, I do want to highlight the following two passages as pre-testimony. The first comes from the November 2022 regarding “an insidious plague that is consuming critical corporate entities from sea to shining sea: conspicuous diversity“:

It always starts as a façade to appease the woke overlords. In that form it appears rather harmless but is actually highly corrosive to the host entity…the real “impacts” are largely hidden from the surface but are galvanically and irreversibly eating away at the underlying structure of the company. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the necessary progression of the long-term promotion of this unnatural state is for the façade to become seen as the entity itself…even by those close to it (and who should know better). In the end, the conspicuously cultivated façade – entirely too young, inexperienced, and ill-prepared – is transitioned into the offices they were only ever meant to supplement (i.e., provide visual balance for). Many will attain those positions fifteen or more years earlier in their career than their predecessors did…and with an even larger “practical experience gap.” (And don’t even get me started on the hollow credentials “those of the façade” were awarded along the way. But I digress.)

The second comes from October 2024 highlighting “a version of this story [that] can be easily composed about most corporations / industries these days…where the Potemkin Diversity* of a dozen years ago has now morphed into shallow, dysfunctional management“:

(*In the early days of this phenomenon, diversity hires and even whole departments were conspicuously placed throughout the upper organizations to boost the publishable numbers. This worked for a time because the organizational structure was still “mostly” populated by merit-based hires of all colors, sexes, and beliefs that ensured technical competence based on the thought, understanding, and complex reasoning that comes with genuine experience. Over time, however, after collecting many conspicuous honors and promotions on top of padding their resumes with pseudo-credentials, the Potemkin became the upper organizational structure and not just that false facade. With the attrition of the genuinely experienced workforce, the impact to these institutions will likely be irreversible. Welcome to your future.)

With those fresh in your memory banks, I now invite you to slowly and deliberately read through (or re-read, if that is the case) one of the most important accounts available today of social engineering malpractice imposed on (or, voluntarily embarked upon by) a nominally “free society”:

The Lost Generation by Jacob Savage (December 15, 2025)

I am going to resist multiple long block quotes as it is best for you to read the whole thing in context. I do want you to notice the author’s references to the talent “pipelines” of the fields he is discussing and be aware that the same situation likely applies equally to just about any field of endeavor you can think of that is important to you and yours: education and maturation of critical competencies for medical/surgical specialties, bridge building, power generations and delivery, turbomachinery design, etc. While I do feel for the ‘lost generation’ – I have witnessed much from the perspective of the engineering cubicle farm of a technology-based corporate behemoth – the larger issue is that the wake of this decade (or more) of unnatural selection is going to rock American society in many ways for quite some time. Much know-how has been lost and much of the damage is irreversible.

I will end with a few combined statements from the Savage piece worth remembering:

This was systematic discrimination, documented in writing, implemented without consequence. It’s striking how casual it all was. … For a decade, it kept going, faster and faster. Without any actual quotas to achieve—only the constant exhortation to “do better”—the diversity complex became self-radicalizing, a strange confluence of top-down and bottom-up pressure. No one ever said what the right number of white men would be, but it was always fewer than you currently had.

Again, welcome to your future.
