‘The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States’ (UPDATED)

The following was posted over at the legacy site earlier this evening:

As is my habit, I will start with quoting myself once again. This time from about a week before the Leftist war on American Liberty last went hot-ish (or December 30, 2020):

[Living within the lie is] not the makings of a healthy free / non-fear-based American society.

I come to this point as one who just days after this dirty mockery of an election I was asking “At what point do some of these united states tire of others not participating in the agreed to compact in good faith?” and “how will red-county America react to this both within and between various states?” To be more specific: Does some portion of We the People really start to resist the (not even remotely hidden anymore) managed decline by a completely corrupted beltway behemoth and the corresponding evolution away from American liberty? If so, how?

[Emphasis added]

I bring that up here specifically under the title above…which happens to be the opening words of an open letter from Texas Governor Greg Abbott delivered to me today by Powerline:…because, on some not-so-insignificant levels, the jig just may be up:

The fact that 90% (or more) of the current We the People cannot – will not – comprehend just how devastating every syllable of that is to the comfortable state-supplied narrative they snuggle under each night should tell us much about the dire situation this rotting husk of a republic is in.  That alone is embarrassing and sad. (For the record, I am not an Abbott fanboy, but this is good stuff.)

But what I really want to draw attention to here is this: Every state governor and state legislature (not to mention big city mayors) that does not loudly and persistently support Greg Abbott on this is complicit in the deliberate breaking of The Compact. Yes, we all know the silence will be deafening but…breaking the compact is exactly the Progressive agenda and decline is a choice that the current We the People give every indication of being quite comfortable with. (Abbott fights the big fight while the consultant class and their condescending enablers want us to focus only on wooing white suburban women voters. Good grief.)

Deeper into the abyss we go…

P.S. While my plan is to always have my happy butt in a red county in a red state, I must say that it gives a little bit of extra confidence to be in Greg Abbott’s Texas. Good day, folks.

JANUARY 25 UPDATE

Via Instapundit (with additional special reporting by Drew in the comments below), it seems there is a not-to-be-easily-dismissed movement among the respectable of the many united states:

I DON’T WISH TO ALARM ANYONE, BUT:  Governor Abbott: When, in the Course of Human Events….

So far Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Dakota, Montana, Virginia and Florida have pledged material (and personnel) support.  There will probably be more by the time you read this.

UPDATE: North Dakota, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Idaho, Nebraska, West Virginia, Iowa.

I’ve heard reports of Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, South Carolina, Utah, but I have not personally seen the Tweets. We’re kind of dealing with a home repair emergency (our water main broke in the cold if you must know) and I’ll look for those tweets and update as I can.  Those who have my email can feel free to email me links and save me time. 😉

UPDATE: Up to 25 states, because the entire Republican Governors Association signed a letter of support.

So, add in: Ohio, Indiana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Missouri,  Wyoming, Nevada and Utah.  I should get a map and color it, shouldn’t I?

Will any of the democrat governors break with the pack? It’s time to turn the heat on them.

No doubt they are aware of the heat that will come from the other direction if they even hint at anything resembling support.

It will be interesting to see whether the Mayors of NYC and Chicago who have been complaining loudly of the impact of “sanctuary seekers” on their “sanctuary cities” support Abbot and push the governors of NY and IL to support. I don’t expect them to, but it would be interesting if someone in the media would ask them whether they would support Abbot rather than just complaining about him transiting invaders to their towns.
