I suspect that bit of wisdom holds equally well when the currency is “liberty” as when it is good, old American dollars as Mr. Rogers intended. Under this updated model, it is hard to argue that the quickening with respect to the war on the American middle-class (and the last refuge of the spirit of the Republic) is upon us. In fact, hindsight tells us it was rather obvious in 2010 but very few noticed and even harder to deny when it came out from the shadows in 2016. At that point only the true believers, the willfully blind, and the rare jack-assed idiot lawyer from Arizona chose not to see. Yet today, as the ongoing violence to American liberty has gone white hot, at least half of the American major political parties are complicit in this lurch toward totalitarianism and more than half of the electorate is supportive or blissfully ignorant…because, you know, no mean tweets.
History will have to inform us later when the actual tipping point came but I posit that this week alone could be framed as the moment in time when it became obvious to the expanding masses of the bruised and battered by our government from sea to shining sea who are willing to see that the intentional and already unrecoverable glide slope into the abyss has steepened substantially.
Just to hit the high low points…
Less than ten days after signing the bad joke that is the Inflation Reduction Act into law, the puppeteers behind the empty vessel hanging at the end of their strings used that tool to exercise powers beyond his authority (H/T Instapundit) to forgive student loan debt (i.e., spend even more money that “we” just don’t have). This two-punch combination will loom large over both current and future generations. The IRA will not only NOT reduce inflation, it will continue to drive it higher and farther into our future but will also establish a heavier totalitarian hand (via the IRS) permanently pressing down on We the People. The abuse of non-existent powers (to the great silent blissful ignorance…or worse, cheers…of a great majority of the masses) further signals the ease with which the people will sell – or surrender outright – their liberties to this corrupt Progressive cabal.
This week we also learned that FBI brass ordered agents not to investigate the Hunter Biden laptop so as to “not change the outcome of the election again”…thereby, interfering in the election again. So a treasure-trove of evidence of financial and political corruptness with Joe Biden at the center sat idle in FBI hands for more than eleven months prior to the 2020 election. (Feel free to compare and contrast that to the Russia Hoax, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., …)
Then, just to add insult to injury, after nearly two years of silence, we learn straight from Mr. Facebook that the FBI exercised additional muscle to pressure censorship in social media of that same laptop story for the same purposes:
Lines have been crossed that can’t be uncrossed, and while there have been times in the past when it felt like things were falling apart, this feels different. It feels like all false pretenses were dropped, and Joe Biden is now fully out in the open as the tyrant he is. If he were trying to tear the country apart, what would he even be doing differently? That he has the most powerful parts of the federal government, agencies that can ruin [lives] without so much as breaking a sweat, doing his bidding only makes things scarier.
Lastly, just to top it off, we also learned this week that despite consistent denials (read as: LIES), the Oval Office really was behind the raid on Mar-a-Lago. Once again exercising powers not really allowed to them to retract attorney client privilege, Team Biden coordinated this thuggish act through the Gestapo forces at their beck and call.
And, again, all to a great silence from We the People. Sure, there are voices out there and more people seem to be catching on every day. But, as I keep saying, the vast majority seems to be either overtly cheering this on or residing comfortably in the blissful ignorance and/or the (deceptive illusion of) calm of “no mean tweets.” With apologies once again for my bastardization of the line for my own agenda, this go-to quote is now well beyond any reasonable argument:

For better or worse, it seems we are entering the home stretch.

Why would the DOJ and the FBI pull a stunt like this? Did they attempt to get a judge of a court of the United State to sign off on it? Could they not find a single one? Or did they just go the shady route because they really don’t care to even appear to be legitimate anymore?
