This is intended to be a sister post to the one earlier today – Revisiting Exhibit B (January 10, 2021). That one was meant as a reminder of how aggressive the apparatchiks of budding American totalitarianism were in the hours following J6…when it was assumed that Trump was politically dead and his base would dutifully rejoin the Washington Generals of the GOPe. This brief post will draw the focus inside “our” perimeter.

Again, going back to the Midnight in the Republic, Volume 9 post from January 10, 2021 (as recreated here), the meat of Exhibit C as presented included this:

Let it be known to the business world: Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and [this premier business media outlet] will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie. We’re going to scrutinize, double-check, investigate with the same skepticism we’d approach a Trump tweet. Want to ensure the world’s biggest business media brand approaches you as a potential funnel of disinformation? Then hire away.

What a pompous ass.

I suspect most of you do not remember that. Some may be more that a bit surprised to find out that that was published by the Chief Content Officer and Editor of Forbes. At the time, I provided the obvious and necessary side note: ‘It should be shocking to you that the chest thumping threats from Forbes above are not already their standard practice in doing their job. Maybe that touted “brand” is just a bunch of fluff. From this point on, I guess I am forced to consider Forbes nothing but a bunch of fluffers. But I digress.” As for today, that seems about right.

Since I don’t welcome such fluffers into my news feed, I have no idea how they are playing in the Trump 2.0 era. But just like with the Jake Tappers of the world, always remember that there are clearly those inside “our” perimeter that should be afforded no free credibility and should be forever mocked for their spinelessness and complicity in the face of the unadulterated anti-Americanism that was ascendant in the hours and days after J6. Trust these fluffers (and those like them) at your own peril.
