Back in July of 2015, when I was still active on the long-lost and dearly missed diary page at RedState, I posted an entry titled ‘On Considering a Deliberate March into the Abyss‘…the post is sadly long lost to the ether but I have my copy. At that point I was a former republican (Never Forget Mississippi 2014!) and actively sitting out the presidential election cycle. Just an observer…completely disgusted with years of Uni-Party victories (enabled by the “compassionate” conservative marketing gimmick with the associated big-tent-ism, Failure Theater of the Soft Center Right, and the snuffing out of the 2010 Tea Party in its crib). Anyway, the subtitle of that piece was ‘Initial Thoughts on Abandoning the Knowable Tyrannical Terrors of the Current Slow Decline in Favor of a Deliberate Campaign to Reach the Unknowns on the Other Side‘ and in the piece I said:
For decades now America has been wading into an abyss of grotesque societal degradation and growing governmental tyranny. For those willing to see it, this has clearly been a carefully choreographed charade pulled off with the persistent leftward forces of the Democrat Party doing the bulk of the work and with the right side of the Ruling Class offering token resistance … and [ensuring] working majorities when required from the malleable center-right. The pace has certainly quickened in recent years but even the relatively increased momentum of these post-constitutional times is really only sufficient (by design, no doubt) to carry us out to the wickedest depths. Once stalled, the Ruling Class and the tyrannical bureaucratic superstructure will complete the consumption of the host…We the People. Only at that point can something new emerge…but history strongly hints that “liberty” will not likely be part of that new solution. And the longer it takes to the get to “rock bottom” the less “muscle memory” for rugged individualism and freedom will remain in the population. And that, my friends, is the lifeblood of American exceptionalism.
I posit that it is our duty to American posterity to either demand to stop the decline and turn back now or march on in with a deliberateness that intends on facing the worst as soon as possible and emerging on the other side. …
[Emphasis added]
(While that clearly emerged from the keyboard of a much less mature me, I do still like it.)
Clearly the beast saw to it to amplify the tyranny and accelerate the decline in the years since…and just as clearly swelled the ranks of those helplessly fed-up with the charade (like me).
With that as the set-up, I now want to introduce the following more interesting passage from a more illustrious source:
Throughout the years and decades, interrogations under Article 58 were almost never undertaken to elicit the truth, but were simply an exercise in an inevitably filthy procedure: someone who had been free only a little while before, who was sometimes proud and always unprepared, was to be bent and pushed through a narrow pipe where his sides would be torn by iron hooks and where he could not breathe, so that he would finally pray to get to the other end. And at the other end, he would be shoved out, an already processed native of the Archipelago, already in the promised land. (The fool would keep on resisting! He even thought there was a way back out of the pipe.) – The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, pages 94-95
[Emphasis added]
As for the Progressive American political version of such Article 58 processes…there is little doubt that Donald J. Trump has been pushed through that narrow pipe. Starting in the Summer of 2016 (under the watchful and complicit eye of the Obama Oval Office) until early last November it was almost non-stop and as filthy at is gets. Just a year ago he sat in a courtroom facing a corrupt judge – with the full backing of the entire corrupt system right up to the brain-dead puppet president and the corrupt team of hidden ideologues who were pulling the levers of ultimate power and running the auto-pen – who was determined to destroy him. Well, he emerged…and he has been ‘processed’ into something. I just don’t think the Progressive tyrants, their enablers of the Soft Center Right, and the whores of Wall Street are going to like what they have created:
“He’s at the peak of just not giving a f— anymore.” said a White House official with knowledge of Trump’s thinking. “Bad news stories? Doesn’t give a f—. He’s going to do what he’s going to do. He’s going to do what he promised to do on the campaign trial.”
Now we seem to be getting somewhere. (There is a great old movie from my youth about choosing the form you your destructor…and then regretting it. I’ll save that discussion for another time.)
And – unlike in early 2017 when the Narrative News Mass Hysteria generators had everyone running from Trump (especially the congressional management…none dare call it leadership…and an inordinate number of House Members who were elevated during those years of embarrassing big-tent-ism and then picked up their ‘principles’ and ran for the exit before 2018 – it appears the Prideful Executive now in charge will have more forceful/vocal backing from the masses this time. As far as his current play to turn back from the abyss (i.e. the “managed slow decline” into bankruptcy and away from a system that enables American Liberty), here are four minutes worth your time to watch in full:
Here’s the truth about tariffs: For 60 years they destroyed the American working class to funnel money upwards into the pockets of the rich. Donald Trump is the first president in generations to tell Wall Street to screw itself—he’s for the working men and women of this country.

As usual, while the machine is fully against him (the howling is well on its way to 11), it is always good to remember that there is nothing intellectually serious about the organized opposition:
1) 1996 Nancy Pelosi encourages all of Congress to back reciprocal tariffs
2) 2008 Bernie Sanders wants tariffs, says jobs are going overseas
3) 2018 Barack Obama calls for reciprocal tariffs
4) 1988 Donald Trump says foreign countries must pay tariffs
Only 1 hasn’t sold out
