The Spotlight on Chief Justice ‘Skid Mark’ Intensifies

With that title reference to last Friday’s post, I will take this post to add to the historical timeline markers of this story as Powerline directed us to Senator Kennedy in his typical form this week:

Mr. Hinderaker wraps up that post with this:

Our country is undergoing a constitutional crisis. That crisis was not triggered by the Trump administration, which is fulfilling the campaign promises on which it was elected in, so far as I have seen, an entirely legal way, but rather by Democratic Party district court judges who disagree with the Trump administration politically, and are doing everything they can to overturn or negate the last presidential election.

What these robed rebels are doing is vastly closer to an insurrection than anything that was done by the ragtag protesters of January 6, 2021. Chief Justice John Roberts is famously concerned with the political legitimacy of the Judicial Branch. That legitimacy is in danger, right now, as a result of the Democratic Party’s fanatically loyal judges abusing their power. If it wants to preserve any shred of legitimacy, the Supreme Court must act.

In similar form, Newt Gingrich also testified (via The Conservative Treehouse):

Hard to believe that is that same character who, as a young whippersnapper not all that long ago, was so intellectually unserious:

I’ll take today’s version, thank you.

Anyway, in addition to the smelly stain he is infusing into the Judiciary, Mr. Roberts is shaping up to be a perfectly appropriate skid mark on the legacy of GWB. It really is hard to imagine how any of this plays out well for him and his ilk from here. Good times, good times.
