(As posted over at the legacy site earlier this evening. Apologies, several of the links may not be accessible to non-members over there. Most of the material is here too…I just haven’t taken the time to redirect the links.)
To those who were paying attention throughout the four-year ordeal, the first pass at a succinct historical summary of (what convention will insist we call) the ‘Biden Administration’ can be formulated in just three letters: F-J-B. (Large sections of college stadiums chanting the full words to that phrase a few years back remains a stinging rebuke to the moron-in-chief from what should have been the solid core of his re-election base. Embarrassments galore.)
For those who were not around, who were distracted by one shiny pseudo-event after another, or who suffered from acute infections of the TDS virus over this intellectually un-serious period of American history, the brief fourteen words quoted in the title above are about as complete and accurate as one can get at this point about the true character of what was undeniably a puppet regime carried out right before our eyes. The whole world knew it…but, through our public face (i.e., the democrat-media complex) we were happy to pretend otherwise.
The extended quote from which that part of the title above was pulled in actually even more damning in the specific context in which it was written (via Instapundit):
It would be hard to imagine an immigration policy more likely to trigger enormous backlash, encourage xenophobia, and lead in the end to extremely restrictive changes both to immigration law and to the way it is enforced. … No one familiar with the troubled history of American immigration policy would have counseled this kind of approach. That a majority of Americans now favor mass deportation of illegal immigrants is the natural and inevitable result of one of the most sustained acts of political incompetence and humanitarian malpractice in the history of the American presidency.
But the less specific, abbreviate version that I borrowed here can easily be adapted to just about any aspect of, any policy of, and/or any official action of the ‘Biden Administration’. (In fact, several good examples have been documented in real time under the Bad Faith Governance series and Prideless Executive series of posts here in the Lower Member Feed. See links below.) “Sustained Political Incompetence” is a fitting bumper sticker for the ignorant twit who the Gipper took time to note in his diary thirty-seven years ago…recognizing the little man, the pest, already up to no-good in the shadow of a real President. It is also fitting…and quite humorous…that FJB is spending the last two and a half months of his ill-gotten term in office completely hidden by the massive shadow of a mere President-Elect.
The mockery of history awaits…I imagine that something on the order of a dozen or so words is all that will emerge from the eclipse provided by the Trump #45 and #47 bookends. While recommendations are welcome, I think this is a good working draft:
‘The Most Sustained Acts of Political Incompetence in the History of the American Presidency’
