The Althouse Files: The ‘President? What President? We have a President?’ Edition

A few days before this year’s officially-cited-but-not-really-observed election “day” provides a good opportunity to return to this series…it being a (very imperfect but sometimes informative) touchstone into the ever-shrinking world of the moderately intellectually honest Democrat. In this episode Madam Althouse appears to come out from behind the usual forced neutrality with a brief but righteous rant in response to media begging those really in power to put a muzzle on The President or the United States of America (and the whole s&!#show around the current fiction that that is):

Either he’s President or he isn’t. He’s made a mess of everything and deprived us of a normal process of selecting a President. And the Democratic Party candidate for President is entirely implicated in the dangerous, outrageous situation, and you just want to shut him up for a few days?! No, the entire [REDACTED] show is the responsibility of Democratic Party that is aggressively seeking power over his half-dead body. Why should we look away?

As with previous [pointed commentary from her like this], it always injects a little bit of hope into me when things get bad enough to elicit such outbursts. If it is so bad that the always very composed Madam must spill like that, I like to speculate that the moderate left masses have also passed this threshold. Real or not, it does provide a brief cathartic moment over coffee on this Saturday morning.

Alas, back to your regularly scheduled march into the post-Republic abyss…
