War Rape

Iris Chang began her introduction to The Rape of Nanking with:

The Chronicle of humankind’s cruelty to fellow humans is a long and sorry tale. But if it is true that even in such horror tales there are degrees of ruthlessness, then few atrocities in world history compare in intensity and scale to the Rape of Nanking during World War II.

The world waited decades to hear Chang’s telling of the story and I suspect the outrage was not as raw as it would have been if the horrifying details were widely known just weeks and months after the events. While “intensity and scale” of long ago history tends to become more of an academic exercise as the classroom texts shrink the events to fewer and fewer paragraphs (not even “pages” anymore), the modern connectedness of our world affords us a very short span between atrocities and documentation for those willing to see. Witness the barbarism committed by “Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Gaza ‘civilians’ on October 7.” (As taken from the Legal Insurrection article linked below, the proper use of the quote marks around the word civilians in that brief passage is an important detail to this larger story. But I digress.)

Way back on November 26, a comment was reproduced on Ricochet (evidently) from under a Washington Post article that demonstrated the sick/ignorant “denialism” already taking root in our land:

This article insinuates that women were found dead with their legs spread, and other positions, and insinuate rape. There are tests for semen that investigators have had over seven weeks to test for. No where in this article does it say that any rape kits were used in examining these women. Why not? If you have that evidence, why are you not producing it? … Visual evidence is not enough. Scientific evidence should produce the truth.

[Emphasis added]

To that I responded:

Little more than a quick scan through a good copy of “The Rape of Nanking” would expose these “rape kit” head fakes as the disgusting anti-intellectual twaddle they really are.

If that version is too harsh for your sensibilities, maybe look into what the Duke lacrosse team was accused of doing.

Conflating “rape” with “proof of semen” completely misses the extreme violence of the violations one should not even imagine were done here.

Alas, today we already have a clear picture of that extreme violence…and I suspect the worst of it – the worst of the deliberate and conspicuous sexual mutilations of women – is still not being openly reported. From Legal Insurrection (via Instapundit):

“The Times viewed photographs of one woman’s corpse … with dozens of nails driven into her thighs and groin”

NY Times bears witness to evidence of Palestinian sexual savagery on October 7: “A two-month investigation by The Times uncovered painful new details, establishing that the attacks against women were not isolated events but part of a broader pattern of gender-based violence on Oct. 7.”

Now you know why Israel is so determined to eliminate Hamas and the other Jihadist terror groups. This time it is different.

But, but, but….”rape kits”…”scientific evidence.” There is clearly a cancerous societal tumor that must be removed entirely from a spot of land in the Middle East. If this time is “truly different”, it will be done (and sincerely appreciated by the saner portions of the civilized world). Unfortunately, faux-skeptic/denier morons (and their enablers) over here calling for “rape kit” evidence of obvious, intentionally conspicuous mutilations hints at the ignorance (i.e. galactically stupid), if not the evil itself, present within our own society. Either way, that kind of societal defect (one clearly not limited to one side of the American political aisle) will not serve anyone well in the hard times to come.

Anyway, the story at the link collects much that should not be forgotten. I recommend saving that one for later reference.

Ever deeper into the abyss…
